WeeklyPaper – Weekly PubMed Digest Email for Researchers

1. Overview

WeeklyPaper ("we", "our") is operated by Masaki Sakamoto (Kyoto, Japan). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your information when you use our Service.

2. Information We Collect

Account information: Email address, name, and profile image obtained via Google OAuth when you sign in.
Search queries: PubMed search queries you create to configure your digest.
Digest preferences: Delivery schedule, paper count preferences, and custom AI prompt instructions.
Usage data: Digest delivery history and paper tracking to prevent duplicate deliveries.
Payment information: Processed exclusively by Stripe; we do not store card numbers or full payment details.

To generate and deliver your weekly research digest emails
To process payments and manage subscriptions

4. Third-Party Data Sharing

We share your data with the following third-party services to operate the Service:

Google (OAuth)

Used for authentication. We receive your email address, display name, and profile image. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

PubMed / NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information)

Your search queries are sent to the PubMed E-utilities API to retrieve academic paper information. NCBI is operated by the U.S. National Institutes of Health.

OpenAI

Paper titles, abstracts (up to 500 characters), and your custom prompt instructions are sent to OpenAI's API to generate digest summaries. Governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy.

Semantic Scholar (Allen Institute for AI)

PubMed IDs (PMIDs) are sent to the Semantic Scholar API to retrieve citation counts when needed for fallback paper ranking. No personal data is included.

Resend

Your email address and generated digest HTML are sent to Resend to deliver your digest emails.

Stripe

Used to process payments for paid subscriptions. Your email address is shared with Stripe to create a customer record. Governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy.

Neon / Vercel

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Neon, and the application is hosted on Vercel. Both are used solely to operate the Service.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Digest delivery history and sent paper records are retained to provide the duplicate-prevention feature. You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page, which will permanently remove all your data from our systems.

6. Your Rights

Access: You can view your stored search queries and digest settings in the app.
Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from the Settings page.
Unsubscribe: You can stop email delivery at any time via the unsubscribe link in any digest email or the Settings page.
Portability / Correction: Contact us at the email below for any other data requests.

7. Cookies and Session Data

We use only essential session cookies required for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
